Samsung is developing a smartphone that spans the entire front of the device.
The South Korean press agency Yonhap said the screen would hide under the front camera and would be equipped with sensors under the screen, thus eliminating the small spaces in the phone through the slot for camera lens.
"Although it's not possible to create a full-screen smartphone over the next two years, the technology can achieve its current goal," said Yang Byung-dook, vice president of Samsung Mobile Research and Development at Samsung. The camera slot is not visible, with no effect on the operation of the camera. "
The announcement was made less than a month after South Korea launched its foldable phone, criticized for its high price.
Samsung phones such as the Galaxy S10 have an Infinity or camera with a camera slot at the top of the screen and no other edge.
He congratulated the Infinity O screen as a "milestone" for the company, but said that Samsung was looking for more robust designs by moving the camera under the screen.
In the past, Samsung has been shown capable of launching ambitious phone designs, such as foldable phones, but that does not mean that the new phone will soon appear, the Daily Mail newspaper said.
