Liverpool defender Virgil van Dyke said his team was well placed to settle the dispute over the English Premier League title this season, but stressed the difficulty of competing with Manchester City, which he described as a wonderful team.

"We are in an excellent position and we must take advantage of it, but you know we want to go forward," he said in comments, including the website of his club.
"It will be difficult because Manchester City is fantastic and the Champions League is very strong, as we know, so we'll see, we'll think every game after another."
Liverpool was introduced for the first time in the 26th minute by Sadio Mani, before Ryan Babel was the victim of a fatal foul by van Dyck and Allison to score a draw in the 74th minute.
But James Milner refused to leave Liverpool to impose a penalty in the 81st minute.
Milner's kick saved Liverpool from a draw, leading the Reds to 76 points at the top of the league temporarily, two points behind Manchester City.
