In recent years, the number of users of social networking sites, including Facebook and Twitter, has increased: in the space of just three years, 14 million new users have entered Facebook, specifically between 2014 and 2017, The report was published by the Statistical Authority in a recent report titled "The Data Ecosystem in Egypt in Support of Sustainable Development" prepared in cooperation with the Statistical Commission United Nations.

On Twitter, Egypt ranks second as the largest Arab country in terms of the number of new users since 2014, with some 590,000 new Egyptian users having joined Twitter since this year. 65.8% of Facebook users are under 30
