The King of Spain Philip VI stressed the high priority that his country attached to its relations with the Arab countries, based on the historical ties between the two parties in many areas and the distinguished relations that currently unite them at official levels and popular. These relationships serve the common interests of both parties.

This occurred during a meeting with the secretary general of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, currently visiting Madrid, along with King Philip VI of Spain.

Abul-Gheit expressed appreciation for Spain's positive and favorable positions on Arab issues at the international level, stressing the importance of promoting deep historical relations that bind between the Arab and Spanish parties and benefiting this respect of the great cultural and civilizational convergence in the realization of this objective.
