Thousands of protesters gathered Friday in central Algiers to demand the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika during the fourth week of the wave of protests.
The number of protesters is increasing rapidly and has become thousands, after a few hundred.
The agency pointed out that protesters from the city center had gathered despite the rain that was raising Algerian flags and placards.
Algeria has been witnessing peaceful protests and rallies since 22 February, calling on President Bouteflika not to seek another term, to change the regime and to scare away all current political faces.
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika announced a few days ago that he would not run for a new presidential term and ordered the postponement of the presidential election scheduled for April 18, 2019.
The Algerian president has appointed Noureddine Badawi as prime minister, replacing Ahmed Ouyahia, who resigned on Monday (March 11th) and has decided to put an end to the tasks of the Supreme National Commission for Election Observation.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtan Lamamra said a few days ago that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika had agreed to give power to an elected president.
The foreign minister said that the Algerian opposition would be allowed to participate in the government tasked with overseeing the presidential election, Reuters said.
Amamra stressed that the Algerian state has offered to all actors to engage in a comprehensive national dialogue through an inclusive and independent national conference.
The Algerian minister stressed that the next presidential elections in Algeria will comply with the new constitution.
