Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and his team failed to beat Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrzej Byatov, who stood up to his teammates against attacks from Brazilian Europe.
Portugal had one point to play in second place with their Ukrainian counterpart in the second set (B), led by Luxembourg after beating Lithuania 2-1.
