Russian scientists have presented a new adult TB vaccine after successfully completing the preclinical testing phase and the first stage of clinical trials.
"This year, the second phase of clinical trials will be over and we will have a new adult vaccine," said Tatiana Yakovleva, First Deputy Minister of Health.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization, tuberculosis affects every year about 10 million people, including 1 million children.

In November 2018, the Russian Minister of Health, Veronica Skfortsova, spoke about two TB vaccines: studies have shown that they generate immunity against the disease and do not present a health hazard.
The new vaccine will protect children and adults vaccinated in childhood with BCG.The new vaccine will allow adults to recover their immune memory and prevent TB.
