The Prince of Makkah region, who oversees the development of the region, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, and Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, Khaled Al-Faleh, Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the implementation of the Al-Faisaliah solar project in the Makkah region.
The Ministry of Energy intends to set up the project of a capacity of 2600 MW, which will prepare the technical and technical studies of the entire project to ensure its compliance to international standards, and will be implemented in several phases, including 600 megawatts to be submitted to this year's public contract. The Public Investment Fund and its selected partners develop 2 GW.
The project aims to keep pace with the expected increase in the number of Rahman residents and guests and, as a result, the expected increase in demand for electricity and clean energy.
It offers several features, including power in the western region at peak times, improved security and flexibility of electric power, clean energy supply and reduced carbon emissions from the city of Al Faisaliah, as well as investment opportunities and industries that will create jobs that will contribute to the absorption and development of Saudi capabilities.
