German professor Claudia Pfohler said that itching requires immediate consultation with the doctor because it prefigures skin cancer, especially if the itching is accompanied by burning, pain and pus.
The doctor added that this also applies if changes in shape, size and color of the mark were observed, for example if the birth spot was round or oval of unequal shape, if the diameter was greater than 5 mm, if the color was dark or if its characteristics were indeterminate.

In general, the dermatologist should be examined once a year, even if these symptoms are not observed.
