Issam Abdel Fattah, chairman of the Referees Committee of the Egyptian Football Federation, said that he was in talks with Ravshan Irmatov, of Uzbekistan, for Saturday's arbitration match.
"We are waiting for an answer from Irmatov on Tuesday," Abdel Fattah told Al-Maash via the Echo Al-Balad channel.
"There is also a choice between two or three others to choose the summit rule between them," he said.
Irmatov is one of the world's elite leaders: he has received the award for the best referee in Asia five times, the last in 2014, and the GlobeSoccer award for the best referee in the world in 2015.
Uzbekistan have played five games in the last Asian Cup, including the final between Japan and Qatar.
Irmatov also led two matches at the 2018 World Cup, bringing together Argentina, Croatia, Spain and Morocco.
