Dr. Haifa Abu-Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, confirmed that senior officials of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) had finalized today the draft economic and social resolutions for the Arab summit from Tunis.
Abu Ghazaleh said Tuesday at the end of the meeting that the draft Economic and Social Council resolutions had been presented in the form of a single package to be considered by the ministerial meeting for the preparation of the economic and the 30th Arab Summit.
She added that senior officials had presented the report of the Secretary-General on the joint economic and social activities of Arab countries since the last Arab summit in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
In addition, senior officials presented a draft resolution calling on Arab financial institutions to support the Palestinian state in the establishment of the National Economic Empowerment Foundation as well as a draft resolution on the implementation plan. implementation of the Arab Strategy for Housing and Sustainable Urban Development.
They also presented a draft resolution on the action of the Arabs in the negotiations on climate change and the fight against climate change, as well as a draft resolution on the Arab Charter on Ethics. science and technology, also on the economic agenda.
The meeting resulted in a project to establish an Arab Advisory Center to assist in the investigation of marine accidents, so that ministers consider adopting it to become part of the summit's economic dossier.
Regarding the social issue, Ambassador Haifa Abu-Ghazaleh said that senior officials of the Economic and Social Council had presented to ministers a draft resolution on the Arab Strategy for Older Persons presented by the joint meeting Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and Health.
Senior officials also presented a draft special resolution on the Arab Action Plan to address the social causes of terrorism presented by the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, as well as to end the recruitment of children in Iraqi terrorist groups.
The meeting also addressed the United Arab Emirates proposal to establish the Arab Space Cooperation Group at the Economic and Social Council at ministerial level, to be held next Thursday to make the appropriate decision.
