He explained that the department had recently been included in the list of diabetes medications prescribed for some of the varieties of insulin, considered a new generation of treatment offering the same efficacy as the other types of insulin prescribed by the ministry.

Al-Azeri said that, for purely medical reasons related to certain categories of patients, the release of insulin of the new generation required a medical report for the first time, issued by the specialist of diseases of the endocrine system and the diabetes, and the validity of this report for one year.

To facilitate the writing of the report, the Ministry relies on the medical reports prepared by the endocrine and diabetes physicians of its hospitals, Prince Hamzah hospital, Royal Medical Services hospital. , University Hospitals and the National Center for Endocrinology and Diabetes throughout the kingdom.

He pointed out that the number of patients consuming the new insulin, which requires this ratio, is very limited and almost negligible compared to the number of patients with various antidiabetic drugs, including insulin.
