The executive director of the Jeddah Metro, Mr. Osama Ibrahim Abdo, has denied any tendency to cancel the subway project in the province, stressing that the project is efficient and planned and approved with a budget of 60 billion riyals .
Abdo said, according to "home", that the project had been postponed to the completion of the construction of the bus network, which required a period of time of 5 to 7 years.
He pointed out that challenges required the completion of tunnels in Jeddah until the time of the establishment of the metro because of the density of roads, as well as the issue of the study of the treatment of water and technical details.
He pointed out that the province of Jeddah had a particular geographical nature due to groundwater and high water levels, explaining that the Secretariat had conducted detailed studies on the soil layers on which it would be based. during the implementation of the project.
Jeddah Mayor Saleh Al-Turki confirmed that the Jeddah metro project was not adapted to the nature of the province at the moment.
