The Football Federation of Comoros has officially lodged a complaint to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations at the expense of Cameroon.
The claims of the Comoros have existed for a long time, but they finally filed a complaint Thursday night.
According to Saadi Ben Amir, the head of the Comoros team, they complain about being able to qualify for the tournament because this tournament was to be held in Cameroon, before being canceled.
Cameroon participated in the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers, but their matches were friendly, before withdrawing the Cameroon tournament before the last qualifying round.
Ben Amir said that the Comoros Football Federation had raised € 19,000 to file a complaint with the CAS.
The Union of Comoros has already received a response from the sports court stating that it would receive an answer within 20 days.
The CAFU is in possession of an article on the Charter of the African Union, which prohibits a country from withdrawing from the organization of African nations or losing its organization one year before the scheduled date for his participation in the tournament.
The African Football Confederation (CAF) has already dismissed Morocco in the 2015 edition after being apologized for not having organized the tournament a few months earlier.
If the African Union applies the same regulations in Cameroon, Comoros will be second in their group behind Morocco and qualify for the tournament for the first time in its history.
The African Football Confederation (CAF) withdrew from Cameroon the organization of the Africa Cup of Nations before Egypt won the tournament.
The tournament will be held in Egypt in June and July with the participation of 24 teams for the first time.
