CAIRO – The first conference on Arab women's sport, under the patronage of President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, was held in Cairo on March 28-29 in the presence of a group of scientists and professors Faculties of Physical Education of Egypt and the Arab World.

Ms. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, inaugurated the conference organized by the Egyptian Association for Sport under the title "Challenges and Opportunities" in cooperation with the League of Arab States, the Ministry of Solidarity Social Affairs and the National Council of Women.

In his speech, the Minister of Youth and Sports said that Arab women in general and Egypt in particular had recently been able to enter the arena of competition in all political, economic, social and sporting fields, and not only with representation or honorable participation. And Olympic.

Sobhi added that the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports seeks to support and empower women in the field of youth and sports through the implementation of several projects for women, especially to stimulate and encourage women Exercise in accordance with the provisions of the Egyptian Constitution and the Sports Act and youth organizations. Including during the conference and underlined the interest of Egypt under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for Egyptian women and provide them with the desired atmosphere, emphasizing that women were actively participating in various political, economic forums , cultural and sports.

He expressed the hope that the conference would issue specific recommendations for the empowerment of women in sport, announcing that the Ministry and the Council of Arab Ministers were ready to implement the serious recommendations and to submit them. to the Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports.

For his part, Dr. Essam Hilaly, president of the Egyptian Association for Sports Meeting and Conference Chair, said that the purpose of the organization of this conference is to propose recommendations and legislation strengthening the right of women to play sports in Arab countries and solving the problems they face in cooperation between different ministries and stakeholders. The Arab world is a dignified place.

Sheikha Hayat Al Khalifa also delivered a speech on behalf of Prince Talal bin Badr, President of the Federation of Arab Olympic Committees, in which she underlined the great role played by the Union of Arab Committees in the service of Arab sport.
