In turn, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said in his speech at the meeting that the Arabs were refusing to legitimize the occupation of the Syrian Golan by Israel.
Abul Gheit said: "The Arabs refuse to call the occupation without its name.The Golan is occupied by Syria in accordance with international resolutions.The legitimization of the occupation is a sin.The legalization of occupation is a waste of international law and justice.The Golan is a Syrian land and we reject the US decision to recognize Israel's sovereignty over this territory. "
He pointed out that "the Arab world has agreed on issues that can not be compromised," adding, "make mistakes in thinking that the crises of the region have stolen". attention to the question of Jerusalem and Palestine ".
He stressed that the unprecedented harassment that the Israeli occupation sought to perpetuate in the occupied Palestinian territories constituted an act of repression, a siege and a settlement, which are rewarded only by the recent positions of the administration. For his part, Tunisian Foreign Minister Khamis Jahnawi said in his speech: "We are aware of the exactness of the conditions in the Arab world, we must make decisions that contribute to the challenges of the region".
"We support the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as the capital, on the basis of international resolutions," he said.
On the issue of the Golan, Tunisia rejected the decision of recognition by the United States of the sovereignty of "Israel" on the occupied Golan, adding that the decision of US President Donald Trump on the occupied Golan "is null and has no legal effect ".
He continued, "We will work with other Arab countries to limit the impact of the US decision to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan."
