Barcelona wins the "derby" of Catalonia (Video)

MADRID (Reuters) – Spain's Spanish derby won the Spanish league title on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Espanyol.

Argentine striker Lionel Messi opened the scoring for the Blaugrana in the 71st minute on a free kick shot to the head by Victor Sanchez Mata of Espanyol.

The magician returned to Messi and scored the second goal of a shot inside the penalty area at the last minute of the meeting, which was held at Camp Nou.

Barca, who is 69 points clear, is 13 points ahead of Atletico Madrid, visiting Deportivo Alaves later in the day.

While Espanyol dropped to 14th place with 34 points.
