Australian researchers conducted a series of scientific studies. After analyzing the results, they discovered that about 30,000 cases of breast cancer were preventable in the early years.
The researchers found that if a person stopped drinking and maintained a normal weight, it would prevent breast cancer, according to Medicalxpress.
"We found that the current level of obesity may be the leading cause of breast cancer, with 17,500 people diagnosed with breast cancer over the next decade," said Dr. Mariet Laxoneen, lead author of the study.
In addition, according to experts, the risk of breast cancer increases dramatically if a person drinks at least one glass of alcohol a day. They said 11,600 cases could be avoided if alcohol was stopped.
