NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Experimental contact lenses, not only improving vision, but also avoiding the itchiness of allergies, will soon be put to good use by two recent studies, according to a new report.
In the Journal of Cornea, researchers wrote that lenses containing antihistamines, anti-allergens, developed and tested by Johnson & Johnson, significantly reduced the symptoms of eye allergies.
"The results are very encouraging and more than 20% of people are allergic to the eyes," said Bryan Pal, director of clinical sciences at the company's vision care center, co-author of the study.
