A first helicopter to fly on Mars in 2021 performed its first test flight and the 1.8 kg (4 lbs) aircraft will be loaded into the Rover March 2020 spacecraft, The sky above the red planet for the first time.
The space agency hopes the drone-like helicopter will give scientists a fresh look at the surface of Mars, and that it took two short test flights at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, saying it was first and last time the plane would take off on Mars. According to the British Daily Mail website, the laboratory, located in Pasadena, has as much atmosphere as possible for a thin Mars Thickness and freezing temperatures of -90 degrees Celsius (-130 degrees Fahrenheit) at night.
The vacuum chamber exchanges nitrogen, oxygen and other carbon dioxide gas to mimic the atmosphere of the red planet, as well as the gravity discharge system.
A few months after the Rover landing in March 2021, the helicopter will be disengaged and test flights will last up to 90 seconds.
