The Secretary-General stressed the importance of concerted efforts to achieve a "fairer" globalization so that everyone can benefit from technological progress. While the UN seeks to ensure that "no one abandons progress".

Antonio Guterich spoke about climate change, which he said was "moving faster than people can do it." He highlighted the enormous impacts of climate change in the world, including the increase in natural disasters, desertification, sea level rise and global temperatures.
