Facebook has recognized a software gap in its applications that has contributed to the leakage of images of 6.8 million users.
In a statement, the company explained that this bug allowed smartphone app developers to access images of about 6.8 million Facebook users via phones.
The statement also said that the disclosed data included photos uploaded by Facebook users in their phone applications and did not publish them, or that they had passed through the "stories" on Facebook from September 13 to 25.
Facebook has confirmed that its experts have discovered the software vulnerability at the root of the problem and will treat users who have damaged their accounts. They ask the developers of the applications that got the images to get rid of those images and not to publish them.
