The Chinese Space Agency announced that a probe had landed Thursday afar, marking the first historic landing of the Chinese space program.
The lunar probe, Chang Ah 4, launched in December, fell smoothly at 02:26 GMT and broadcast the first close-up image of the dark side of the moon, the National Space Administration announced.
The movement of the moon is linked to the movement of the planet because the moon revolves around itself as quickly as it turns around our planet, which means that its far or "dark" side does not can never be seen from the Earth. Other spacecraft saw the hidden face of the moon, but none landed there.
The landing revealed the mystery surrounding the hidden face of the moon and "opened a new page in the history of the discovery of the moon by the man," said L & # 39; agency in a statement posted on its website. The statement included a color photograph taken at a wide angle from a hole in the moon.
The probe, which includes a landing craft and a moving car, landed in a specific area near the south pole of the moon, in the crater of Von Karman, after entering the orbit of the moon at the mid-December.
The missions of the Chang-ah probe include four astronomical observations, a study of the rocky terrain and composition of the moon, the measurement of neutron radiation and neutral atoms to study the environment on the other side of the moon.
