Tokyo’s “Natsume” Specialty Clinic is working to restore dolls and other toys to what they were in the past, much to the delight of owners attached to them, such as Yuki Kato, who brought her doll.

The clinic carefully documents each step of the treatment and posts photos on the Internet so that the owners can follow the treatment closely.
Realizing how people can get attached to their stuffed animals, Hakuzaki considers it essential to treat toys as if they were alive.
The 34-year-old moved to Tokyo two years ago and now repairs 100 soft toys a month with five other “doctors”. Customers send toys that need attention from Hong Kong, Taiwan, France, and Great Britain, and some have had to wait up to a year for an appointment.
It takes about ten days to repair a doll or toy, and the clinic’s website includes photos of “sick” people who have recovered. There is only one other “clinic” for lint repair in Japan, which is in Osaka, and demand for its services is growing, despite prices ranging from 10,000 to 500,000 yen (95 to 4,800 dollars), depending on his situation.
