Facebook and Ray-Ban are set to announce their collaboration on smart glasses later today on September 9. As a result, leaker Evan Blass posted numerous alleged photos of the product line.
The glasses are called Ray Ban Stories, and other than the box, the Facebook branding doesn’t seem to appear anywhere in the product.
The leaked images include three distinct frame styles – Wayfarer, Round, and Meteor – all of which look like classic Ray-Ban designs.
The difference is that there are two cameras next to the hinges on both sides. There is also a button at the top of the right arm, which can be used to operate the cameras.
The company announced last year that the glasses would launch in 2021. Zuckerberg confirmed in July that the glasses represent the company’s next device launch.
Although a date was not announced at the time. But just specify that the glasses have the iconic Ray-Ban shape, and allow you to do pretty cool things. However, it doesn’t have screens for the augmented reality feature. So, we still don’t know what these things are.
Zuckerberg said the product is part of the company’s journey towards full augmented reality glasses in the future, and more advanced augmented reality glasses are also in the pipeline.
And these photos don’t show how or if the social media giant surpassed the capabilities of the first Snap glasses, other than making glasses that look like regular Ray Bans.
Ray-Ban has published a promotional page with a silhouette of a pair of glasses with the date 09/09/2021 and the text “Subscribe now to receive your own release notification”.
The brand does not specify whether this is news from the edition or from the edition itself. But the Ray-Ban homepage promises this story you might want to follow, a supposed reference to Facebook stories.
