The Syrian Ministry of Health has asked its public hospitals in Damascus to take a number of exceptional measures, with the increase in Corona cases in the country.
In a letter addressed to the directors of public agencies (hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health), the Minister of Health Hassan Ghobash called for several measures to be taken, including:
Cold (non-urgent) operations stop starting tomorrow, March 22, with work continuing on emergency operations and tumors only.
Implement the emergency staff summons plan and operate hospitals to their maximum capacity, with all capacities and capabilities for the benefit of pandemic patients.
The ministry said it came “as a result of the development of Corona injury conditions.”
Yesterday, the ministry announced that the occupancy rate of intensive care beds for Corona patients in public hospitals in Damascus has reached 100%.
And recently, daily infections with the virus have started to see a steady increase, especially in Damascus, which yesterday recorded 70 new infections out of 152 recorded cases in the country.
Damascus also recorded the highest number of deaths, as 6 deaths were recorded yesterday in Damascus alone, out of 11 deaths recorded in the country.
