The Earth is witnessing the approach of a huge comet called 168P / Hergenrother on Thursday, August 22, whose maximum brightness will be visible at night.
Astronomers believe that this spectacular celestial event will be visible to the naked eye, which means that there is no need to use expensive equipment for such events.
The comet was discovered for the first time in 1998. According to NASA: Comets are ice balls composed of gas, rocks and frozen dust, revolving around the sun. When it freezes, it takes the size of a small town. When its orbit approaches the sun, it warms up and spreads dust and gases in the form of a tail that stretches millions of kilometers from the sun.
The comet, which should reach its highest point of luminosity, will be at a distance of 1.37 AU from the sun and at a distance of 1.13 AU from the Earth.
