Once the application is installed on the smartphone, it is associated with the user’s Microsoft account, and the application also allows the possibility of connecting to Internet accounts in two steps, a method known as “two-factor authentication” .

In order for the user to be able to separate the password from the Microsoft account, he must open the Microsoft account management page and the “Account without password” option is activated in the “Security / Additional security options” menu.

The authenticator app relies on a fingerprint, facial recognition feature or PIN code when signing into a Microsoft account from the version of Windows 10 or other Microsoft services such as OneDrive or Outlook.

The user can revert to the password login feature at any time through the Microsoft account management page, if they no longer wish to continue using the passwordless login feature.
