A new patent reveals that Apple has not yet finished trying to reinvent the MacBook keyboard

Laptop keyboards have never been known to entertain. However, some keyboards look more beautiful than others, and MacBook Pro keyboards are one of them. We say "it was the case" because, since Apple decided to switch to butterfly design, the use of Apple's keyboards has declined.

We heard that Apple would abandon this design and return to something more distinctive, but at the same time, it seems that the company has not yet finished trying to reinvent the MacBook keyboard. This is consistent with a recently discovered patent by the Apple Insider website, which states that Apple is exploring the idea of ​​using optical buttons on the keyboards of its future laptops.

If you have never heard of optical buttons, they use light to record the inputs while pressing the button. The light beam is transmitted continuously and when a button is pressed, this beam is interrupted and the input is recorded. This is different from traditional keyboards that rely on touching touch points. If this technique is familiar to you, it's because a similar technique was used in the Razer Huntsman's keyboard.

The Apple patent describes a slightly different system, but conceptually, it seems to be identical. However, we are not sure if it is already planned to implement this design, but we hope that Apple will have learned valuable lessons from the design-based keyboard failure butterfly.
