The World Gold Council released its monthly report for the list of the 100 countries with the most gold in their reserve holdings, and Saudi Arabia dominated Arab countries with precious metal reserves.
According to the report, Saudi Arabia has 323.1 tonnes of gold, followed by Lebanon with reserves of 286.8 tonnes, and then Algeria, which has reserves of 173.6 tonnes.
This arrangement concerns the largest Arab countries that own gold, but what about the arrangement of the Arab countries in terms of gold reserves per capita of the country?
After calculating the per capita share of gold reserves, it appears that the Lebanese citizen is ahead of his peers in Arab countries in this indicator, since the Lebanese share is 1.35 ounces of gold (the weight of ‘one ounce of gold = 31.10 grams).
The share of a Qatari citizen is 0.64 ounces, while the share of a Kuwaiti citizen is 0.60 ounces, while the share of a Saudi citizen is 0.30 ounces.
Here is the ranking of Arab countries in terms of gold reserves per capita:
