Brazilian police arrested Sao Paulo club player William Ribeiro in the city of Vináncio Aires after violently assaulting a referee during the match.
Police expelled the player from the Edmundo Fix stadium, after referee Rodrigo Crivelaro fell to the ground and brutally hit him on the head because he had given him a yellow card.

While the Sao Paulo club expressed regret over what happened, and said in a statement that there is no tournament worth venturing into a person’s life , wishing referee Rodrigo Crivelaro an improvement in his condition, stressing that nothing justifies the aggression.
In addition, Brazilian reports said the player would face an attempted murder charge, and a lawyer was immediately assigned to him to follow the proceedings in the case.
