Juhayna News – Energy experts discussed the future of hydrogen energy and fuel cells in Arab countries and the importance of investing in this energy as a major catalyst for sustainable development, green economy and non-dependence on others.
This happened at a workshop recently hosted by the Arab Renewable Energy Authority via Zoom Technology, attended by scientists and experts representing 50 Arab and foreign countries.
According to a statement released by the authority today, Saturday, workshop participants recommended the need to form a standing committee of Arab and foreign energy experts to develop a roadmap and prepare “books. whites ”to introduce hydrogen as a future fuel in the energy strategies of Arab countries.
They urged Arab governments to enact laws and legislation for investment and gradual transformation of the use of hydrogen energy and fuel cells, to launch the first Arab Forum on Hydrogen Energy and Cells fuel next year and consider 2021 as the year of hydrogen and fuel cells in Arab countries.
They also recommended the introduction of hydrogen in Arab strategies for renewable energy, which will be the future energy source and the ideal and economical solution for energy storage, environmental preservation and the climate change.
And they called for the creation of advanced research centers on hydrogen, fuel cells and energy storage, given that hydrogen energy and fuel cells are the main part of the energy mix for economic, environmental and climatic considerations.
Moroccan Authority Head / Minister of Energy, Mines and Environment Engineer Aziz Rabah stressed the need to harness hydrogen energy in Arab countries as a major catalyst for sustainable development and the green economy, to prepare infrastructure, establish research and development centers, and qualify Arab executives to benefit from hydrogen as the fuel of the future.
Authority expert Dr Ibrahim Badran presented a working paper in which he said that the future requires us to redouble Arab efforts to achieve integration in energy systems and the need for everyone to cooperate to find a solid and solid basis to keep pace with the global development of hydrogen energy and fuel cells.
He said the Arabs should not be happy with the production and export of green hydrogen, but rather that they should be able to think of hydrogen manufacturing in terms of production and chemical industries and not not repeat the mistake of oil relying on others in technology, research and scientific production.
In turn, the Secretary General of the Authority, Muhammad Al-Taani, said that what the world is witnessing in terms of the rapid development of hydrogen energy and fuel cells will be the start of a new era of renewable energy, moving from batteries to fuel cells to store energy safely in a way that ensures energy security and resolves the problems of surplus energy and production waste.
He underlined the need for Arab countries to prepare the infrastructure for cars and transport based on hydrogen energy, explaining that Europe plans to reach 40 gigabytes of hydrogen energy by 2040 and that the volume of global investments in hydrogen energy will exceed a trillion dollars over the next twenty years.
