The Iranian Football Federation has officially asked the AFC to withdraw its organization from the additional 2021 AFC Champions League match at Saudi Arabia.
In a letter to the Asian Federation, the Iranian Federation protested against the holding of the additional match between Iranian club “Foulad” and Emirati “Al Ain” in Riyadh, citing “the insecurity in this country”.
AFC had granted Saudi Arabia the hosting of the third group, which includes the additional match between Al Ain and Foulad, to be held on April 10.
The Iranian Federation’s speech was based on its merits that the Saudi capital, Riyadh, has recently been the target of missile attacks and that the Foulad Club “is concerned about the security situation in Riyadh”.
