A report on the British metro site revealed that NASA was about to reveal the tragic death of the Rover Opportunity probe after more than eight months of loss of contact with the exploration robot.
NASA fears that a dust storm that swept the entire planet Mars in June of last year has destroyed the smart probe. Since then, ground control has not been able to contact her.
The dust storm may have dusted the solar panels that power the probe, which means that it can not recharge its battery to come into contact with the task control on the ground.
"The solar-powered probe will continue to land with the Earth on June 10, 2018, while it was a dust storm covering the red planet," wrote the NASA.
