Former Brazilian football legend Pelé’s advisor told Reuters on Monday that the former Santos and New York Cosmos forward was hospitalized six days ago after suffering from an undisclosed health problem, but the he 80-year-old former player is not in serious condition.
Brazilian site Globo said Pelé underwent routine check-ups at Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo when the problem was discovered.
Pele’s manager Joey Fraga said there was nothing to worry about.
And Fraga added in a written message: Pele had a full range of tests, x-rays, colonoscopy and other things, and he didn’t have it all in one day.
This happened days after Pelé was forced to deny reports that he had passed out.
Beside a photo of the smiling three-time world champion, Pelé wrote on his Instagram account: “Guys, I haven’t passed out and I’m very healthy.” I went for routine tests that I couldn’t do before due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Let them know I won’t be playing next Sunday!
