Books – Youssef Afifi:

The crescent moon of Hajj adorns the skies of Egypt and the Arab world, after sunset today (Sunday) 1 of Dhu al-Hijjah 1442 corresponding to July 11, 2021 after about 45 minutes or (less) as it will be easily seen with the naked eye and decorate the western horizon if the sky is clear and the horizon free of obstacles.

The Jeddah Astronomical Society has stated that the moon will be distant from the glow of the setting sun and become higher in the sky, compared to last night and a few degrees from Venus and Mars, and in a few nights it will be will notice that the unlit side of the moon’s surface is illuminated by a dim light which is sunlight reflected from the Earth and falling on the moon.

And the Astronomical Society added, via its official page on “Facebook”, that the moon reached conjugation status on the morning of Saturday 30 Dhu al-Qa’dah 1442 corresponding to July 10, 2021 at 4:46 a.m. Saudi time ( 01:46 GMT), ending a cycle of conjugation around the Earth and starting a new cycle of conjugation.

And she continued: Day by day he will notice that the crescent moon will increase in brightness and rise high in the sky as the sun sets, and it will stay longer after the onset of night, for the moon is moving away. from the location of the sunset, and the bright side of the moon will appear as an arrow in the sky pointing to the star Lion Heart and Venus.

The reason we see the moon moving westward each day is because of the earth’s rotation on its axis, but the moon’s real movement is eastward relative to the stars and planets while ‘it revolves around the earth.
