DUBAI (Reuters) – The Egyptian Football Federation (EFA) decided on Tuesday to postpone the Egypt Cup for an indefinite period, in accordance with the instructions of the security authorities.
The Egyptian Football Federation issued a statement posted on its official website on Twitter, in which it said: "The federation committee has decided to postpone the match between Zamalek and Egypt in the quarterfinals of the Cup Egypt, scheduled for Wednesday, as well as the match against Ahli and Pyramids in the role of sixteenth place.Tuesday, at a date to be determined later, by order of the security authorities. "
Al Ahli supporters welcomed this decision, which called the referee Ahli, and made fun of Pyramids' trip to Alexandria for the match, which threatened their team with not play before being pushed back.
On the other hand, some fans of Pyramids and Zamalek launched the club "Al-Ahli security reasons club", in reference to the postponement of the eighth round matches of the second local championship in Egypt, serving the interests from the Red Club.
The Zamalek expressed their refusal to cancel their match against the clearing and stressed that the decision to postpone was made following the authorities' objections to the timing of the match.
A major objection between Ahly and Pyramids was triggered by the latter's objection to the second round match on February 28th. Pyramids asked that the championship game be postponed to "equal opportunities" with the competitors and replaced by the cup match.
The Egyptian Football Federation accepted Pyramids' request and approved the match against Al Ahly and Pyramids in the February 28th Cup. The latter was challenged by Al Ahly and threatened not to play the match because he had not received any notification from the Union before the match.
