There is a glimmer of hope among the dead and misery in the Republic of Congo as a result of the Ebola outbreak, a hope that is reflected in baby Benedict.
The Congolese Ministry of Health has described the six-week-old girl as a "miracle" because she survived Ebola after contracting the virus, a newborn baby.
"The young woman claims that Benoît was born on October 31 and is therefore about a month and a half," said spokeswoman Jessica Ilonga.
The mother died during childbirth because she was also infected with Ebola, the virus that has killed up to now more than 300 people in eastern Congo.
Benedict received 24-hour care throughout his hospitalization, the youngest patient recovering from the virus during the latest Ebola outbreak in the country, according to the ministry.
The young man is now at home with his father and aunt.
