The USB port forum has released the final version of the USB 4.0 standard. This interface is based on Thunderbolt 3 and offers the ability to simultaneously transfer data, load and display the image on the screen.

Officially, the new standard is called USB4, its main advantage is high bandwidth – up to 40GB / s, twice as much as the latest version of USB 3.2, or 8 times more than the original USB 3.0. 100 watts of power.

Among the important features mentioned are backwards compatibility with USB 3.1 and USB 2.0, as well as full compatibility with Thunderbolt 3 devices and cables. With the transition to USB4, the problem of finding the right wire will disappear, because it combines all current standards.

Thunderbolt is an Intel technology that aims to use a single cable for all devices, whether you want to connect an external drive, connect a monitor, or charge a smartphone.

The third advantage of the USB4 is the improved separation of data and video signals. The USB4 solves the problem of reducing productivity while performing parallel tasks. The first devices with USB4 should not be expected in the near future, as they will only be available in 2020.
