LONDON (Reuters) – English coach Stephen Constantine resigned Monday after the Blue Tigers failed to qualify for the last round of the Asian Cup after their 1-0 defeat Bahrain at Sharjah Stadium.
I have been here for four years. My first goal was to qualify for the Asian Cup, I did it and broke some numbers, "Konstantin said at a press conference after the match.
"I am proud of the players, I thank the Indian Federation for the support I have given him over the past four years," said the 56-year-old.
India got off to a good start, beating Thailand 4-1 before losing to UAE 2-0 in the second round.
The Indian athlete left the Asian Championship for the first time after falling to Red Bahrain against Jamal Rashid.
"It's time to move after four years in India," he said.
Konstantin oversaw Malawi, Sudan and Rwanda.
