An American paramedic was quarantined in Nebraska because he was suspected of being infected with Ebola

(Reuters) – A US health worker arrived in the United States where he was quarantined in the US state of Nebraska for possibly being exposed to the Ebola virus while he was busy of people with the disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Nebraska Medical Director said in a statement that the paramedic, who arrived Saturday and does not appear to have Ebola symptoms, will remain under medical supervision for two weeks at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

The name of the paramedic was not announced for reasons of confidentiality.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, symptoms such as fever and abdominal pain may appear in the patient within three weeks of infection with the deadly virus.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which began six months ago, is the second most serious of its kind, killing 356 people and 356 dead.
