An asteroid skirting a successor tower flying near the Earth on September 14th.

According to NASA, a huge asteroid is competing at the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, located in Dubai in September.

Called the 2000 QW7, the asteroid is very large, with a diameter between 290 and 650 meters, slightly shorter than the Khalifa tower of 2,716 feet (828 meters). This asteroid is huge because its diameter is twice that of the Empire State Building (1,200 feet) (381 meters).

The asteroid is expected to pass near our planet on September 14, according to the Center for Near-Earth Objects Studies (CNEOS), which is part of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

However, the QW7 asteroid will not spend much time around the Earth, passing near Earth at an astonishing speed of 23,100 km / h (14,361 miles to the hour), according to CNEOS.

Although it is considered an object close to the Earth, it will still be far away, as asteroids and other objects in space are classified as near-Earth objects if they cross the Earth at a distance of 1 , 3 meters. (149.6 million kilometers).

The asteroid 2000 QW7 will pass from the Earth at a distance of 0.03564 astronomical unit, which equates to about 5.3 million kilometers, or 13.87 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon, just like the Earth.
