Apple watches still dominate the smart watch market

A new report revealed that Apple's watch remains the market leader in smart watches, superior to Samsung or even specialized companies such as Garmin.

According to Strategy Analytics figures, 51% of smart watch sales worldwide date back to a particular Apple hour, predicting that sales of these handheld devices will increase by 56% in 2018 compared to the year former.

Fitbit came in second, followed by Samsung and Garmin respectively. Total shipments of smart clocks in 2018 amounted to 45 million pieces, of which 22.5 million intelligent hours of Apple.

Although Apple is now dominating the market, its shares have pulled out of competition because of rivals Samsung and Garmin. Apple's shipments totaled 9.2 million smart hours in the fourth quarter of last year, an increase of 18 percent over the previous year to 7.8 million hours delivered in the same quarter .

While Samsung's share increased to 2.4 million hours in the fourth quarter, compared with 13,000 percent versus 600,000 in the same quarter of 2017.

The market share of smart watches from Apple was 67% in 2017.
