The sky witnesses distinct astronomical phenomena during the current month of April 6, including the conjunction of the moon and the planet Mars, the harp meteors and the appearance of the gigantic first moon (Super Moon) for the year 2021.

Ashraf Tadros, professor at the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, told media today that the first astronomical events for the current month of April will take place next Monday, when (the moon with Jupiter and the planet Saturn ) can be seen. from around three and a half in the morning for a period of 4 days.

He added that he notices that when the morning twilight increases due to the sunrise, we will not be able to see this scene, explaining that the moon will be closest to Saturn and will be associated with it at dawn on Tuesday, and that the moon is associated with Jupiter, that is, closer to it at dawn next Wednesday.

He pointed out that on April 12, the moon will rise and set with the sun at around the same time, so the moon will not be visible in the sky all night, and this is the best time of the month. to observe weak celestial bodies. like galaxies, clusters, star clusters, constellations, and distant stars.

He explained that the moon will be associated with the red planet (Mars) on April 17, in a beautiful scene after sunset and entering the night that day until sunset around eleven in the evening.

He added that the moon will also be associated on April 20 with the star cluster (beehive) located in Cancer that day, and this can be seen as night falls into the evening until the scene ends. layer around half past midnight, explaining that it is difficult to see the star cluster (the hive) With the naked eye, it requires the use of a small telescope or binoculars.

He pointed to the emergence of the harp meteor, which occurs every year from April 16 to 25, and peaks on April 22 and 23, and you see these meteors as if they came from the constellation (Harp), pointing out that the Harp Meteors are produced from the remains of a comet (C1861 G1 Thatcher) discovered in 1861.

He added that the number of meteors in the harp reaches around 20 meteors per hour and can be seen with the naked eye provided the sky is dark and the air is clear, explaining that the moon will be nearly full this year. and the will block the glare of most falling meteors except bright meteors, so the best view will be from a completely dark place after midnight until dawn the next day.

He pointed out that on April 27, the moon will appear full to the viewer and to the naked eye from April 26 to 28, as the naked eye cannot fully discern the rotation of the full moon without devices, and the time to a full moon will be on April 27 after sunset, when the moon’s brightness reaches 99.9%.

He explained that this Full Moon is known to American tribes as (Pink Moon, White Moon, and Growing Grass Moon), and many other names, all of which point to things that happen in the spring.

He pointed out that this was the first moon of three giant moons (Super Moon) for the year 2021, where the moon is in its orbit in the area of perihelion, which is the closest distance to Earth. , so it looks slightly larger and brighter. than usual.

He stressed that all observations of astronomical phenomena and events require clarity of the atmosphere and the absence of clouds, dust and water vapor in the sky, and that astronomical phenomena do not adversely affect the man or his daily activity on earth, so that their observations are pleasant. and loved by astronomers and those interested in astronomy to follow and photograph them.
