Arab countries boycott IPU meetings in Qatar

Arab States issued a joint declaration signed by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain

"With reference to the joint statement presented by our countries to the General Secretariat of the Inter-Parliamentary Union at the 139th General Assembly in Geneva, which includes the objection to the holding of the 140th Assembly by Qatar General Assembly to be held in Doha during the period 1-5 / 8/1440 (6-10) of 2016 AD and to announce the boycott of the meetings of the Assembly in case it would stand in the State of Qatar, unless the State of Qatar responds to the demands of those countries to stop supporting terrorism and to interfere in the affairs of the countries of the region.

The statement added that the State of Qatar had given no response to the just demands of the four countries and that it was pursuing its policy of support for extremism and terrorism and terrorism.
