The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the 113th session of the Executive Council of the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), which began its work today.
The Kingdom’s participation is part of the continuity of its continued support for education, culture and science in the Arab world under the leadership of the Minister of Culture and President of the National Committee for Education, Culture and science, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan.
The Kingdom was represented at the session by the Secretary-General of the Committee, Hattan bin Munir bin Samman, during which procedural matters were discussed and a number of financial and administrative matters were considered in order to improve the performance of organization, to increase its efficiency and to increase the efficiency of the use of science and scientific and technical research.
Council members agreed to appoint the Kingdom’s candidate, Mr. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Shuwairkh, to the post of Director of the Organization’s Department of Education, in addition to the Kingdom’s membership as a member of the Organization’s Financial Supervisory Authority.
The meetings of the Executive Council also debated a number of files, subjects and projects, evaluating and deciding them, and agreeing on the executive decisions entrusted to them in the fields of education, culture and sciences in the Arab world. The most important of what was mentioned there was to address the challenges facing the Arab world in the fields of thought and culture, to serve the Arabic language and to develop its teaching and learning. And publish it, fight against illiteracy in the Arab world, develop the relationship between contemporary media and education, and activate the role of community institutions in education.
It should be noted that the 113th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization was due to take place on April 15, but it was postponed due to the circumstances of the emergence of the pandemic. coronavirus.
