Washington – Arabs Today
Astronomers first observed a huge box of dust inside a gas disk belonging to the young star HD 163296 located in the constellation “Sagittarius”. This huge funnel was formed as a result of the growth of a planet in its final stage. According to the hypothesis accepted by astronomers, the planets give rise to the disk of gas and dust that revolves around a star. The disk particles collide with each other and gradually form an embryo of the planet no more than a kilometer in diameter.
The planets do not yet know how this process evolved. And they had already spotted many planets at different stages of their development, but some stages are still blinded by the mystery.
A team of astronomers led by a planetary specialist from the Dutch “Leiden” University, Yogev Verga, has been following through the MATISSE telescope the last stages of a planet’s development in the young star system HD 163296 which is at 330 light years from Earth. And the weight of the mentioned star is double that of the sun. It was formed around 10 million years ago and has so far been surrounded by a dense cord of gas and dust.
Astronomers assumed that this ring gave birth to several planets, because it was divided into several sectors, each of which has a planet Jenin. Calculations by theoretical astronomers have shown that the dust funnels must appear inside the disc at a final stage to form planets that begin to absorb large amounts of hot matter necessary for the planet to be born.
Scientists consider that the newborn planet they are observing is separated from its star by the same distance that separates Mercury from the sun. They also believe that their monitoring of the planet’s embryo will help them make adjustments in the theory of the birth of planets within different star systems, including the solar system.
