At this date, the world awaits a rare transit of Mercury in front of the solar disk

Observers are preparing for the sky in Egypt and the Arab world to monitor the phenomenon of the crossing of Mercury just in front of the solar disk, Monday, November 11 will begin the rare crossing at (12:35 GMT) and will last about 6 hours, but its duration will vary in the Arab world from region to region.

The astronomical society of Jeddah revealed in a report that the disk of Mercury would pass as a small, completely rounded black dot – slowly on the face of the sun. People from all continents, with the exception of Australia , can see at least a part of the transit, and the inhabitants of the Atlantic coast of the United States will be able to see the whole crossing.

The report warned that during the transit phenomenon, Mercury only covered a small portion of the sun's surface, so it's dangerous to watch it with the naked eye, as every day.

There are so many ways to observe the sun safely, for example using eclipse glasses.

But it is best to use a telescope equipped with a filter dedicated to monitoring the sun and not to use smoked glass, soldering glasses or X-ray images for medical use, etc. These means are not safe ways to observe the sun, although they mask sunlight, but ultraviolet and infrared can penetrate them and harm the retina. Eye, so you have to take this into account and do not neglect it when monitoring the sun.
