Qatar is losing its title as the world's largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) because Australia has increased production to meet a multi-billion dollar demand, CNBC reported.
"Australia and Qatar were arguing for the title of the world's largest LNG exporter in the first five months of 2019," the network said, quoted by a report by the Australian government.
Australia exported more liquefied natural gas (LNG) than Qatar in November 2018 and April 2019, and the US Energy Information Administration said that its country was on the verge of permanently removing Qatar from the top of the LNG exporting countries .
Massive LNG discoveries pushed Australia's production from 2.6 billion cubic feet in 2011 to more than 11.4 billion cubic feet in 2019, more than Qatar's.
