Because of certain diseases
LONDON (Reuters) – A British study reveals that vegetarians are more likely to be infected with colds, flu and other illnesses than meat consumers, resulting in their absence from work.
According to the British newspaper "Daily Mail", during the research, vegetarians are absent five days a year, twice as much as the average annual rate because of the disease.
Two-thirds of vegetarians admitted that they were generally unemployed in 2018 because of minor illnesses compared to previous years, but that reasons for the increase in the number of sick days were not yet clear.
In contrast, half of their meat-eating colleagues reported that the number of sick days had not changed in 2018 and previous years, while one in three reported fewer days.
The newspaper reported that the study had been conducted with the participation of a thousand employees working in "offices" and had revealed that vegetarians were going to the doctor three times more than the common cold and influenza, compared to the average rate of the normal worker.
